6 months and Mother's Day

On May 4th, Brayden turned 6 months old! On May 3rd I breastfed him for the last time! I made my goal of 6 months although it did not go quite as planned. I had gotten a stomach bug in mid April that completely wiped out my supply and instead of working to build it back up I decided it was a good time to start weaning, so I continued to feed/pump a couple feedings a day and used our freezer supply to slowly transition the feedings one by one to formula. Brayden never made breastfeeding easy on me because he has always preferred the bottle over me so a lot of the breastmilk he got was from a bottle even if I was giving it to him. He also took to formula really easily so the transition was not a problem for him at all. It was definitely bittersweet to stop but I was proud I made it to my goal and I am very much enjoying not having to hassle with pumping at work and on the weekends etc.

At six months, Brayden was well into eating solids, having tried most of the 1st baby foods. Although my child is not like a lot of babies I hear about. He is not overly enthused to eat food and it can sometimes be a struggle for him to even eat a few bites. (I write this when he is 7 months and he is getting better but he is still not overly eager to eat)

Below are Brayden's 6 month stats:
Weight: 17lbs 15.5 oz (60%)
Height: 27.5 in (80%)
Head circ: 46.5cm (97%) -- still rockin' his big head :)

6 months old!

Loves his rubber ducky

A few days after he turned six months, Brayden, who was sitting unassisted really well, also began army crawling and he quickly became REALLY good at it. He is so fast and can get everywhere even over obstacles. I love having him be mobile because he used to get so bored just sitting there playing. Even his daycare teachers would say that he got easily bored. Now, if he's bored he can go somewhere else and play with something else. He also likes crawling after the dogs.

This was one of the first few days he started army crawling -- he is MUCH better and really fast at it now.

The same week Brayden turned 6 months was also Mother's Day. We didn't do anything overly special for my first Mother's day but Jimmy and Brayden got/made me really sweet cards. Daycare also made a really cute gift for me with Brayden's hand prints.
