Llano & Crawfish

In mid April, we took a long weekend and drove down to Llano for their annual crawfish festival and to see/visit with Jimmy's family.  We drove down on Friday morning and while the drive down was a bit long since the boys' were awake the whole time and thus it was a challenge to entertain them in the car for that long, overall the drive was good.  I was also so happy we had a little potty in the back of my car because we did pull over in the middle of nowhere and let Kyle go potty on the way down.  You can't tell a potty training 2.5 year old he needs to wait 30 minutes until the next town. :)

We had rented a little bed and breakfast in town to stay in and it was awesome. We will definitely utilize it again the next time we go to Llano.  It was much better than the motel in town.  It was a cute little 2 bedroom house, nice little yard and covered parking, and nice covered patios on both the front and back.  It was perfect for our little family.  The boys shared the back room on their air beds (there's also a murphy bed in there but we opted to leave it up and put the boys on their air beds which worked out well).  It was also nice being right in town and just minutes from Jimmy's parents house.

When we got in town we grabbed lunch and headed to the rental house to get settled in before nap time for the boys.  We got the boys down although it took me laying in the room for a while for them to calm down and stay in their beds before they went to sleep.  Jimmy's parents and eventually his brother (which was a complete surprise to Jimmy's parents that Roy was coming in town) came over to hang out while the boys slept.  Once the boys got up we continued just hanging out on the front porch and playing in the yard a bit.  Then, when dinner was approaching we headed to Jimmy's parents house and Jimmy and his dad went up to the crawfish festival to pick up some crawfish.  The boys played with wooden spoons, plastic bowls and rocks at Jimmy's parents house for ever.  They loved "cooking" things with it.  After dinner and close to bed time, we headed back to the b&b house to get the boys ready for bed.  I was also tired and headed to bed and Jimmy went back to hang out with his family after we were all in bed.

Saturday morning, we got up and headed out to the festival.  We started off checking out the roping which the boys enjoyed. Then, we headed to the main festival grounds and played a couple games and eventually grabbed lunch up there.  Then, we headed back to the house for nap.  Saturday night we again headed over to Jimmy's parents house and left pretty quickly after dinner as a big storm was rolling in and we wanted to get bath done just in case we lost power at the B&B.  After the boys were down on Saturday night, Roy came over and we played phase 10 until I was tired. :)

Sunday we packed up, went to say goodbye to Jimmy's family and headed back home.  The drive home was much easier because the boys slept for part of it.  And, again we had to pull over for Kyle to use the little potty but this time it was because he refused to use the "big potty" in the gas station and eventually was going to burst. :)  It was a great little trip!
