As always I was so nervous about the flight to and from with Brayden. Flying with kids is so nerve racking, at least it is for me. The flight up there went pretty smooth. We took off right around nap time and I wasn't sure with Brayden being much bigger and usually not wanting held when he sleeps if he would sleep on the plane at all. Luckily he was so tired that he did end up falling asleep sprawled across mine and Jimmy's laps right as we were taking off. He slept all of the intended flight time; however, we ended up having to circle above Steamboat for an hour due to heavy snow. That last hour was a little difficult but ended up being OK.
Apparently we brought the snow with us to Steamboat which was great because if you have been keeping up this year there was very little snow in Colorado prior to February. It ended up snowing most of our trip so each day there was a lot of fresh powder to play with on the slopes. :) However, with the first major snow of the season happening the day we came in, everybody and their dog locally decided to come out and ski the first day we skied. It was ridiculously crowded with 30 minute waits at each lift. It was a little miserable and not the best first impression for me for Steamboat. But, after that day the crowds were reasonable and the lines for the lifts were minimal.
Brayden stayed in the Steamboat daycare for the 3 of the 4 days I skied and my mom and dad stayed in the other day I skied. Brayden did so well in their daycare and the teachers loved him (of course!). :) We also rented toys and other essential items (pack and play and high chair) from a service called Babys Away so he was into his "new" toys at the condo and did great. Sleeping arrangements were a little difficult with Brayden and he decided to start cutting i-teeth at the tail end of the trip, so he was up a lot at night towards the end. But, it all worked out just fine and he loved spending the week in the condo with Mimi and Papa and Uncle Mike.
Jimmy ended up having to come back a couple days before the rest of us for work, so the flight back was sans Jimmy. The flight back did not go as smooth as the flight there. Brayden missed his nap that day and didn't want to sleep on the plane so it took a lot of creativity and juggling for us to keep him entertained most of the time. By the time we got to DFW, he was done and threw a major fit. He cried very loudly while I waited for Jimmy to get there. He was so tired. He didn't make it 2 minutes in the truck once he got buckled in.
