Two months

Brayden went for his two month check up when we got back from the ski trip. He also started sleeping in his room when we got back and has been doing great in his crib. Below are his two month stats:

Weight - 13lbs 2.5oz
Percentile: 75%

Height: 24 1/4 inch
Percentile: 85%

Head circumference: 42cm
Percentile: 90% - we already knew he has a big head :)

It's amazing how much they change by two months. He no longer looks like a newborn and looks like a little man. He also is much more alert. Even in the last couple weeks a few new things he's doing:
- He will actually pay attention to a book being read to him - he'll look at the pages and talk to the pages.
- He will look around the room to see who is around instead of just focusing on the toys in front of him. He will especially do this if he hears voices in the room but doesn't see anybody.
- He now seems to enjoy his jumper. I had put him in it before but he didn't seem to notice the toy tray much less jump and move around. His legs are still too short to reach the floor so we have a box under him but he'll entertain himself in it for a little while.
- He has started staring at his hands and feet studying them. He actually does a lot of studying these days of everything around him.
- He can sit up supported (by my hands or with the bumbo) and look around and look at the toy tray on his bumbo.
- He can be very talkative with his coos and will try to imitate you.
- Bath time remains to be one of his favorite times - not necessarily for the bath itself but the "massage" afterward. During his massage which really just entails me putting lotion on him, he becomes so happy and talkative. He LOVES this!
- His favorite toy at the moment is a little monkey that's face lights and blinks and plays a song when you push it's belly. He gets so excited with this monkey and will talk to it a lot.

The following is really for me to remember what it was like with Brayden at this age:
- He fights sleep like nobody's business - this is really the only time he will scream is when he feels himself nodding off and he fights it hard. He still does not really nap and his best naps are when he gets to sleep on somebody or in the swing like he is doing now.
- He is currently waking up twice during the night - one around 1:30am and one around 5 or 5:30am to eat. He did sleep through the night a few nights around 6 weeks of age but has slowly backtracked on his sleep. I think a lot of this is a result of him eating less during the day which is another thing I need to record.
- He is having trouble eating what I consider a full feeding so we now feed about every 2.5 hours during the day and every 4 hours at night and he will only eat about 1.5-2.5 ounces at each feeding and/or feed for about 3-5 minutes on one side. He seems to be getting enough as he's still growing but this has been a big point of stress for me.
- He is also extremely gassy and gets painful gas. This is really the reason for the smaller feedings. He will eat until he needs to burp and then even after he burps he refuses to eat more as if the gas hurt coming up. He is NOT a baby that will nurse or eat for comfort. If he doesn't want it, he does NOT want it and will scream at the attempt to give it to him.

Outside of struggling with feedings and gas and not napping great (which I've read that babies really don't nap well during the day until after 3 months so I don't think it's just Brayden), he is a good baby. My parents always tell me how great of a baby he is. The most he cries on usual days is when he's fighting sleep and briefly until he relieves some of his gas. Outside of this he usually is very happy, smiley and talkative.
