We went to the Highland Village Balloon Festival again this year. This will definitely become an annual tradition. Last year we went on a Sunday morning. That morning we watched the balloons fly into the festival area and try to get their flag as close to a target as possible. This year we discovered that the Saturday and Sunday races are different. Saturday morning's race was a chase the rabbit race, so all the balloons were there, had to inflate and chase the rabbit balloon. We also discovered that at the new location of the festival we can see the balloons taking off / flying from our new house, which is how we realized that Sunday morning's race was the same we saw last year and different from the Saturday one we saw this year. Sunday morning we watched the balloons get close and throw their flags down. We will also have to check out the balloon glow next year as well. The balloon glow happens when it gets dark so it's well after Kyle's bedtime and really is past Brayden's as well. I was really curious what it was like though so with Brayden in his PJs we went to drive by and it was really neat. I kind of regretted not getting him out of the car to see it close up but he didn't have shoes and was ready for bed. Anyway, long intro about the festival aside...
Our friends met us at the festival that morning and the kids enjoyed watching the balloons, playing at Kids Kastle and then hanging out for a bit at the festival.
The rabbit balloon inflating
Off it goes... (the balloon in the background is the tethered balloon for balloon rides)
And the race is on...
Balloons flew off so time to play...
Just hanging...
Brayden wanted to try but he didn't quite get it...
